ChatGPT recharge vs. shared access

“Recharge,” “private account” and “shared account” describe different delivery arrangements. Compare what you control, what gets activated and how an interruption is handled.

Plan versus delivery

What to ask about a recharge offer

A marketing label is not evidence that a seller is authorized by OpenAI. Never treat an unexplained “lifetime” or “unlimited” label as the official plan’s terms.

Ownership is part of the comparison

A realistic example

Imagine two offers both say “Plus.” One activates your existing account; the other supplies a login used by several customers. Their monthly arithmetic may match while their privacy, continuity and available usage differ. Put those conditions beside the price before choosing.

For confidential work, follow your employer or client’s rules and use an account arrangement appropriate to that work. Avoid entering private material into an account whose access you cannot control.

Verify the delivered product

After activation

  1. Check the official account settings for the activated plan and billing or expiry information.
  2. Confirm the features you expected using a non-sensitive test task.
  3. Save the receipt, delivery description and written remedy terms.
  4. Report discrepancies promptly through the seller’s support route.

API requests have separate billing. A successful ChatGPT activation does not supply API credits.

Questions worth asking

Is a “private account” always an account I own?

No. It may mean a supplied account allocated to one customer. Ask who controls the email, recovery and billing.

Can I compare only the Plus label?

Also compare the account owner, shared usage, activation term and remedy for interruptions.
